Sales Engineer

We are searching for Sales Engineer for a manufacturer that is located in Montgomery, Al. The Sales Engineer is responsible for participating in all areas of product design, application, installation, and pricing requirements including preparation of cost estimates and quotations. In addition, this position is responsible for providing required technical product information to architects, engineers, and representatives, visiting customers and job sites to address product changes, product and/or installation defects, customer needs or field complaints.

What You’ll Do:

• Conduct engineering activities required to determine the customers’ needs and requirements for plumbing products manufactured by the company.
• Assign work projects to product engineering, establish parameters, and check critical specifications.
• Assist in the preparation of catalogs, product data sheets and installation information.
• Collect data and negotiate back charges, as needed, to assist the Vice President of Engineering and the Engineering Manager.
• Maintain knowledge of competitor current and emerging products and developments in the plumbing and construction industry.
• Interprets, analyzes and resolves purchasing, manufacturing, submittal, installation, and field operating problems.
• Travels to attend trade shows, visits job sites and participates in national code and standards organization meetings and other functions to promote the company and keep abreast of new developments.
• Conduct plant tours for visitors including contractors, engineers, and architects.
• Prepare reports; maintain records, files, and reference library incidental to procedures.
• Prepare and conduct presentations and seminars.
• Maintain work area, equipment, and supplies in a neat and orderly condition.
• Confer with representatives, customers, engineers, sales personnel, and architects to obtain and analyze engineering requirements, data, and other information.
• Follow safety rules.
• Identify and report problems or difficulties to the Engineering Manager or Vice President of Engineering.
• Advise internal and external customers of technical information and/or installation assistance.
• Assist in the analysis and participation in the design, development, and promotion of new products. Evaluate, modify and/or improve existing product line.
• Internal and external product education, including teaching product knowledge classes.
• Visit job sites to evaluate product installations, teach product knowledge classes and provide technical assistance.
• Compile and organize specifications related to engineering and design.
• Prepare cost estimates and quotations based on relevant data.

What You’ll Need:

• Two-year technical degree in Plumbing, Architectural, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field and/or (6) years of equivalent work experience

The pay range for the Sales Engineer $49,000-$65,000/yr depending on skill set and experience
